Role
The System Configuration Management – Package SME, oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of application packaging, migration, and distribution, specializing in SCCM/MECM and Microsoft Intune, ensuring consistent software delivery and modern endpoint management across Windows environments
Responsibilities
- Application Packaging Standards: Define and enforce packaging standards for MSI, App-V, MSIX, and PowerShell-based installers, ensuring compatibility with SCCM/Intune.
- Package Creation & Testing: Build, test, and troubleshoot application packages in lab and production pipelines; validate installation, removal, and upgrade scenarios.
- Deployment & Migration: Plan and execute bulk application migrations from legacy distribution systems to SCCM and Intune, minimizing end-user impact.
- Integration with Imaging Workflows: Collaborate with imaging engineers to integrate application layers into OS images and task sequences for rapid provisioning.
- Patch & Update Automation: Automate patch packaging and deployment processes, including coordination with security teams for critical updates.
- Vendor Liaison: Coordinate with software vendors for repackaging requests, licensing updates, and solution-specific packaging best practices.
- Documentation & Training: Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge-based articles; deliver training sessions for junior engineers and support staff.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of package compliance, repository integrity, and version control mechanisms.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in application packaging and deployment using SCCM and Intune.
- Deep understanding of Windows Installer technologies (MSI, App-V, MSIX) and scripting (PowerShell, Batch).
- Experience integrating packages into MDT/SCCM OSD task sequences.
- Familiarity with software lifecycle management, versioning, and repository tools (e.g., SCCM Content Library, Azure Repos).
Other Qualifications (Good-to-Have):
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
- Knowledge of corporate packaging frameworks (e.g., AdminStudio) and license management processes.
- Hands-on experience with MDT, WDS, and SCCM Application Management console.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and mentoring capabilities.
