What are we looking for?

We are looking for a highly skilled System-Level C Programmer to join our team in supporting and enhancing the ERP system, a mature, stable enterprise resource planning application used by over retail customers across Australia.

This position is focused on maintaining and optimizing the system-level components and underlying libraries that power the ERP platform. The application runs in a multi-user Linux environment using a custom-built database engine so this role requires someone with deep systems knowledge and strong fundamentals in C programming and operating system internals.

You’ll play a crucial role in modernizing and sustaining the technical backbone of a business-critical ERP solution.

What are you expected to do?

• Maintain and improve in-house C-based system libraries that support the internal ERP.
• Work on Unix/Linux-based environments, managing low-level system functionality such as shared memory, process handling, and file systems.
• Optimize legacy system components to ensure long-term stability and performance.
• Collaborate with application developers, but remain focused on system-level logic, rather than application business logic.
• Analyze existing codebase and architecture, identify inefficiencies, and propose modernization or refactoring strategies.
• Ensure the underlying infrastructure continues to support the scalability and performance needs of a growing retail customer base.

You’ll be a great fit if:

• You have at least 5 years extensive experience in C programming, especially in low-level, system-oriented development.
  
• You have a strong understanding of Linux/Unix internals including memory management, process control, inter-process communication (IPC), and file handling.
• You have experience working on multi-user systems and optimizing performance in concurrent environments.
• You have an ability to understand and maintain custom-built database engines and systems.
• You have proven ability to troubleshoot, debug, and improve complex legacy systems.
• You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to take ownership and drive solutions.
• You have good English communication skills for internal and external collaboration.

We will be absolutely thrilled if you also have the following:

• Background in ERP systems, especially those related to inventory, accounting, or retail business workflows.
• Experience working in a retail technology environment (POS, store systems, etc.).
• Exposure to system security, performance monitoring, or low-level optimization tools.

What happens after you submit your application?

The whole process takes around 4 weeks:

• There will be 3-4 interviews and a possible assessment from our client partner. You will undergo an initial interview, a culture interview, and 1-2 interviews with our cool client. This will run for about 1-2 weeks but we will let you know if we need to ramp it up. Be yourself and have fun.
• We will constantly communicate with you as to the development of your application. You can also directly communicate with us to ask us about the status of your application.
• If all goes well, we complete the reference check and provide other necessary requirements so we can offer you the job right away.
