About the Team and Role
At the heart of our IT Operations team is a commitment to exceptional customer service. We’re looking for a System Administrator who not only understands technology but also values people — someone who can communicate clearly, build trust with colleagues, and take ownership of solving problems quickly and effectively. The right candidate will see each interaction as an opportunity to make someone’s day easier, turning technical expertise into practical support that keeps our business running smoothly.
Job Details:
Pay: up to £38,000 p/a
Full time 37.5hours, Monday to Friday

What you’ll do:
Requirements:
• Provide IT support for 700+ users across multiple UK sites, ensuring high availability and reliability of systems.
• Identify the root cause of IT issues and deliver timely resolutions within agreed SLAs, with a strong focus on security and critical vulnerabilities.
• Proactively monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts—especially those rated as critical or high—using MXDR, Microsoft Defender (including Defender for Cloud), and related security platforms.
• Deploy, configure, and support new hardware (PCs, laptops, mobile devices) and manage device lifecycle.
• Administer and maintain Proxmox virtualisation environments including patching out of hours as required.
• Manage and support Microsoft Office 365, Windows operating systems, and Intune for device management and compliance.
• Operate and maintain Manage Engine Service Desk and Desktop Central for IT service management, asset tracking, and remote support.
• Collaborate with internal IT team members to resolve incidents, escalate issues, and implement improvements.
• Create, update, and maintain IT documentation, policies, and service desk tickets to ensure compliance and knowledge sharing.
• Prioritise and schedule workloads to meet project deadlines and maintain 5-day-a-week office coverage with another engineer.

Security Focus:
• Daily review and remediation of security alerts, with emphasis on critical and high vulnerabilities.
• Work closely with the Head of ICT to ensure the organisation’s security posture is maintained and improved.
Competencies:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, working autonomously making logical decisions and owning these.
• A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering outstanding stakeholder and business outcomes.
• Proven experience of working in a dynamic, fast paced environment where collaboration, teamwork and support are an integral part of the job.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work at pace.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written and able to articulate technical content in a clear and concise manner.
• Build and maintain strong relationships, rapport with all levels of colleagues.
