Overall Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Lead System Administrator, the System Administrator is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining virtual, physical, and cloud infrastructure across VMWare, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune and Manage Engine environments. This role plays a critical part in enhancing operational efficiency and cybersecurity posture by automating routine tasks, performing patch management, maintaining reliable backups using Veeam, and aligning security controls with NIST and CISA frameworks. The position ensures systems are patched, secure, and fully aligned with credit union regulatory standards while providing technical support, vendor management, and internal escalation assistance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintain, secure, and optimize physical and virtual server infrastructure across on-premises environments and cloud platforms including Microsoft 365 and Azure.

Manage endpoint configuration, device compliance, and patch deployment utilizing tools such as Microsoft Intune and ManageEngine to enforce security policies and maintain high operational availability.

Perform regular system backups, recovery verification, and infrastructure support using Veeam, coordinating directly with vendors to ensure backup integrity and zero data loss.

Review system security architecture, execute regular patch updates, and align internal controls with NIST, CISA, and financial regulatory audit frameworks to maintain a robust security posture.

Run and schedule automation scripts using PowerShell or Bash, update and optimize GPOs, and manage user accounts and network permissions across systems.

Act as an escalation resource for IT Support Specialists, create system documentation, and engage with external vendors to manage SLAs and technical resolutions.

Participate in on-call support rotations and collaborate on cross-functional IT projects to support enterprise growth and operational security
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Basic working knowledge in virtualization systems and ability to optimize them as required, including virtual and physical server and network infrastructure with a requisite understanding of financial institution operations.

Ability to work with cloud-based applications such as Office 365, Azure, and Asana.

Ability to write, maintain, and organize documentation for IT systems and related issues.

Ability to communicate highly technical information into user-friendly terms to both users, managers, vendors, and other support staff.

Must be willing and able to drive between worksites and must maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Some ability to work independently, demonstrating attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate's degree in related field.

Other equivalent certification may be considered.

One (1) year of applicable experience required.

Systems administration and information systems operations experience preferred.

Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Microsoft software required.

CompTIA Server+, and/or CompTIA Security+ certification preferred.

Microsoft 365 Certification preferred.

Credit Union and/or financial institution experience is preferred.
