System Administrator, Sr. (VMware | Top Secret)

Title: Systems Engineer, Sr. 
Location: Washington, D.C. (Onsite)
Clearance: Top Secret (SCI Eligible)
Work Shift: 2PM - 10PM
Salary: Up to $140K

About this role:

• Rackner is seeking System Administrator that will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of an organization's computer systems. 
• Ensure the smooth operation of IT infrastructure and provide technical support to end-users. 

We are seeking professionals with:

• 7+ years; conducting system administration or a related role.
• Supporting Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
• Administrating virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
• Oversee networking concepts and protocols.

1. System Configuration and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and software patches. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
2. Security Management: Implement security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, viruses, and other cyber threats. Conduct regular security audits and apply patches and updates as needed.
3. User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up user accounts, and resolving connectivity problems.
4. Backup and Recovery: Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect data integrity and minimize downtime. Test backup systems regularly to ensure reliability.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Generate reports on system performance, capacity, and security.
6. Automation and Optimization: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and streamline system administration processes. Implement automation tools and scripts to improve efficiency.
7. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to support organizational goals and initiatives. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
