RESCAR is rapidly growing and searching for switching and track personnel to fill open positions in Soda Springs, ID.
What You'll Do:
- Read and follow switching instructions/lists indicating track assignments and cars to be switched.
- Operating Locomotive/Trackmobile between service tracks and switching areas
- Signal locomotive/Trackmobile operators to start or stop trains when coupling or uncoupling cars, using hand signals, lanterns, or two-way radio communication
- Observe signals from other crewmembers so that work activities can be coordinated
- Inspect couplings, air hoses, and handbrakes to ensure that they are securely fastened and functioning properly
- Inspect tracks, cars, and engines for defects, report service needs and make sure they are corrected before operation
- Repair/replace heavy couplings, broken knuckles, and air brake hoses using hand tools
What You'll Need:
- 1-3 years working with freight car switching or similar field
- Mechanical aptitude required
- Continuous mental and visual attention is required to perform duties (such as working around heavy and moving equipment), involving repetitive or diversified work requiring constant alertness or activity, required
- Ability to travel up to 20% out-of-state.
