Your role

We are looking for an inspiring, driven and collaborative professional to join our team as Sustainable Procurement Lead. This is a unique opportunity to be part of Orion’s Procurement Process Excellence journey, shape our Sustainable Procurement practices and contribute to key development projects across Procurement.

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing Orion’s Sustainable Procurement agenda. You will lead a cross-functional team with representatives from Procurement, EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) and Sustainability, working together to define, implement and follow up on the action plan and targets that support Orion’s corporate ambitions as well as evolving customer and regulatory expectations.

Our Sustainable Procurement process encompasses a supplier network of 5,500 suppliers in nearly 70 countries across multiple industries, offering a broad and meaningful platform for impact. The process has been developed over several years, and we are part of PSCI (Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative), have climate targets aligned with SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), and use tools such as EcoVadis and Sedex.

The position is permanent and based in Espoo or Turku, with a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and further develop sustainable procurement practices across Orion’s procurement (including direct and indirect procurement as well as our ESO (externally supply operations), driving the sustainable procurement roadmap and ensuring that Orion’s sustainability commitments are embedded into sourcing, supplier relationship management and procurement processes together with a cross-functional team
  • Contribute to tool development and ways of working that enable effective roadmap implementation, progress tracking and follow-up.
  • Develop sustainable procurement key performance indicators and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure that Orion can collect, analyze and use the data needed to measure progress and impact.
  • Benchmark best practices and work closely with key internal stakeholders, such as sourcing managers and Orion’s businesses, to translate Orion’s sustainability expectations into practical procurement processes and concrete supply chain execution.
  • Take a hands-on role in advancing supplier engagement and supporting sourcing and supplier managers in this work.
  • Strengthen sustainable procurement capabilities across the organization through training and collaboration.
  • Support our Sustainability function in ensuring compliance with CSRD reporting and other relevant regulatory requirements.

In addition to the responsibilities above, which would form the majority of your working time, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of procurement development projects depending on business needs and your experience. This gives you further possibilities to learn, grow and make an impact. We currently have several ongoing projects related to procurement process development at Orion, including building a structured Global Procurement Governance model and implementing tools to support Supplier Relationship Management, Contract Lifecycle Management and indirect purchase-to-pay processes. These development projects are closely linked to Orion’s exciting growth targets.

What you can expect from us

In this position, we offer you the opportunity to shape and build future sustainable procurement practices within Orion in a collaborative and development-oriented organization. You will be able to make a tangible sustainability impact across our broad supply chain, while also contributing to Orion’s growth journey as we continue to strengthen our global procurement processes and ways of working.
