Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

The role:

Lonza is developing proposals to relocate its current facilities in Slough. This pivotal role will be responsible for defining and implementing the logistics requirements that support both existing and future processes, ensuring the warehouse design aligns with business case objectives and operational needs.

You’ll create and lead the operational readiness plan for the new warehouse and logistics operations, enabling seamless service across the entire site. From concept to go-live, your expertise will shape the infrastructure that powers our supply chain!

Key responsibilities:
  • Understand and assess the current supply chain, warehouse and logistics operations to confirm alignment with the proposed warehouse design.

  • Formulate and carry out supply chain and logistics assessments for additional sectors on site that are presently not catered to by supply chain.

  • Work together with supply chain departments on-site and across the Lonza network to define the operational guidelines for the new location, encompassing the site supply approach.

  • Serve as the key interface between operational end users and the project team, providing essential input throughout all project phases from development to operational use.

  • Ensure that the operational viewpoint and expertise are fully coordinated into the considerations of the team.

  • Consult with end-user functions at the existing site to guarantee acceptance of the technical solution definitions.

  • Apply lean principles to drive efficiency and continuous improvement in all logistics operations.

Key requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Shown proficiency in setting up and overseeing supply chain, warehouse and logistics operations.

  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, across all organisational levels.

  • Demonstrated success in planning and delivering projects and programs within agreed timescales, with a results-focused approach.

  • Experience of GxP/GMP compliance training is highly desirable for this role but not essential!

  • Experience in handling audits, investigations, and documentation control.

  • Certifications such as PMP, CSCP, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or APICS are highly desirable.

Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment. Any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically.

People come to Lonza for the challenge and creativity of solving complex problems and developing new ideas in life sciences. In return, we offer the satisfaction that comes with improving lives all around the world. The satisfaction that comes with making a meaningful difference.
