Responsibilities will include the implementation and oversight of processes that drive production scheduling, inventory management, sourcing management, purchase order processing, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, and logistics management to support customer requirements while supporting quality assurance and the management team. The Supply Chain Supervisor will work with staff across departments to understand and forecast the needs of the business and make data-based purchase decisions to ensure customer deliverables. This role requires both a strategic and tactical view of the responsibilities, thinking on a broad level about the best way to manage the supply chain resources to maximize the value to Sur-Seal.  This role will also be required to actively plan / procure select materials in support of the direct reports and will be responsible to cover paid time off of the team.


The Supply Chain Supervisor is a strategic-minded leader with excellent analytic abilities and negotiation skills.  A critical thinker with a high degree of business acumen, this individual will also possess superior communication skills as well as a great deal of professionalism and emotional intelligence when dealing with individuals at all levels of an organization. 



Essential Accountabilities of the Supply Chain Supervisor


Demand Management

  • Develop effective forecast models based on industry trends, demand patterns, and direct customer input.
  • Conduct monthly (customer supplied) / quarterly (internally calculated) forecast maintenance.
  • Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy.
  • Monitor and report on important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies.
  • Drive formal stocking agreements in concert with the business where appropriate.

Supply Chain Management

  • Initiate and maintain proper planning parameters to support the sales plans for the facility
  • Review and maintain customer lead-times and need to stock for high dollar and short shelf-life items
  • Monitoring and ensuring all metrics and goals are met for the supply chain function
  • Develop plans for continuous improvement of the processes and data
  • Communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations
  • Support management with risk assessments and mitigation activities.
  • Drive reduction in non-working inventory with the business and supply chain teams.
  • Implement purchasing policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Implement sourcing strategies to support overall business goals and provide the company with competitive advantages.
  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers.
  • Locate, analyze and consolidate supplier base to meet current and future business needs.
  • Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases.
  • Implement appropriate sourcing strategies to control costs and to assure an adequate source of supply with abbreviated lead times and minimal levels of inventory.
  • Work internally and externally to identify material alternatives that reduce cost.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to gather performance scorecard information and lead meaningful business reviews with suppliers.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to understand company-wide needs and enhance supplier support.
  • Maintain, review, and report KPI metrics that fully demonstrate sound supply base control.

General Management

  • Travel as necessary to effectively accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Global Supply Chain.
  • Establish team’s priorities and effectively communicate to gain clarity and alignment.
  • Coaching and developing team members.
  • Performance management, development and motivation of purchasing staff.

In PTO back up capacity

  • Review messages in MRP to plan / buy finished parts, components, and materials
  • Review MRP expedite messages for orders that are urgent, as well as expediting materials that are requested by the commercial group
  • Request acknowledgements from supplier including ship/dock dates and review to ensure finished parts, components, and materials are in line with cost and requested need by dates.
  • Reviews and submits special purchase order requests
  • De-expedite materials that are high dollar value and not urgent
  • Check iON / POD daily for new material set ups / revision, items that need to be turned on in MRP, including setting buffers, reviews material/tooling that needs to be procured,  etc.
Qualifications

Job Qualifications and Required Skills:


  • 3-5 years of Supply Chain experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, required.  Business, Engineering, Materials or equivalent preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain planning and procurement principles, theories, and processes.
  • Expert negotiating skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel experience preferred.
  • ERP knowledge / experience

Skills Required

  • 3-5 years of supply chain experience
  • Bachelor's degree (Business, Engineering, Materials or equivalent preferred)
