About Bonsai Robotics

Bonsai Robotics develops affordable, vision-based autonomy that makes off-road equipment smarter, safer, and more productive. We are redefining outdoor autonomy with Bonsai Intelligence, a connected platform that’s inspired by biology to see, think, and act with precision like a human. We bring together advanced perception, embodied AI, integrations with equipment manufacturers, and our compact, modular Amiga vehicles to deliver reliable automation to the world’s most demanding field operations—reducing costs and increasing operational efficiencies.

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and analytical Supply Chain Engineer to join our hardware development team at Bonsai Robotics. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing supply chain processes to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of components and assemblies for our autonomous UGV platforms. Your expertise will be essential in evaluating suppliers, developing robust quality assurance strategies, and supporting the transition of prototypes to mass production.  You will help drive operational efficiency, mitigate risks, and support the advancement of our cutting-edge autonomy solutions in commercial applications.

What you'll do

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve supply chain strategies for sourcing, procurement, inventory management, and logistics of components and assemblies for autonomous UGVs.
  • Develop, implement, and improve quality assurance processes for components and assemblies from suppliers.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and vendor teams to ensure seamless integration of supply chain processes with product development and production schedules.
  • Develop and maintain supply chain documentation, including process flows, sourcing strategies, risk assessments, and compliance records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and demand forecasts to support prototype builds, production ramp-up, and field deployments.
  • Troubleshoot supply chain disruptions, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize impact on production and deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, regulatory, and sustainability standards throughout the supply chain.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for cost reduction, lead time optimization, and supply chain resilience.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in supply chain engineering, procurement, or logistics, preferably in robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, aerospace, or agricultural industries.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, supply chain software and analytics, and inventory management tools.
    • Experience with sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for process optimization and risk mitigation.
    • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and sustainability standards in manufacturing supply chains.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
    • Experience in CAD tools (Fusion, SolidWorks).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bonus
    • Experience with supply chain design for autonomous vehicle platforms or UGVs.
    • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile methodologies in supply chain operations.
    • Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, supplier qualification, and field logistics.
    • Proven track record delivering projects from prototype through mass production.
    • Experience with hardware supply chain validation cycles and manufacturing testing processes.
    • Background in highly complex supply chains, such as electronics or automotive manufacturing.
    • Understanding of supply chain software and analytics platforms.

Additional Details

  • This role is majority on-site in our office in Watsonville, CA.
  • Some travel may be required to support deployed machines.
