In Precision Strike & Sensing Solutions, we design and manufacture state-of-the-art systems and technology that enable our customers to execute their precision strike missions.
The PS business area is seeking a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer to support the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Development program. This role will be the primary point of contact for Supplier Quality on THAAD Development. This role will work closely with the Development Engineering and Quality teams to implement tools and processes to ensure suppliers develop robust processes that deliver conforming material on-time to BAE. The person will investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems including proactive management via defect trend analysis, preventative measures, and continuous improvement projects.
This position will include approximately 25%+ travel. Travel will be a mix of local, day visits as well as overnight travel, outside the local area.
The Role:
  • Develop robust and highly capable supplier processes that support THAAD production and deliver consistent conforming material on-time
  • Perform and Evaluate First Article Inspections per the requirements of AS9102 as well as train suppliers to meet BAE Systems expectations
  • Partner with the Category Supplier Quality team on problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances, with the ability to lead suppliers through complete RCCA to find root cause and solve complex technical problems
  • Perform Production Process Verifications (PPV's) at supplier locations and participate in PPAP review process and other aspects of APQP
  • Flow down contractual requirements to suppliers based on QMS / part / risk / customer requirements via quality clausing codes
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and program quality to identify part and supplier risk for proactive mitigation activities.

  • A strong desire and mindset to drive actions and projects to closure without being prompted
  • Strong communication skills to ensure suppliers understand requirements and expectations, make progress reports and present findings
  • Possesses a strong understanding of Quality Science tools (APQP/PPAP, 8D RCCA, Statistical Process Controls, Lean Six Sigma) along with relevant industry standards and their application to drive execution excellence
  • Relates well with individuals at all levels of the organization, builds appropriate rapport, fosters constructive and effective relationships
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's degree with 4-6+ years of experience or 8-10+ years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience with a development programs and/or qualification of new suppliers in support of development efforts
  • Experience with FPA/semiconductor manufacturing
  • Experience in 8D/RCCA activities, as well as APQP
  • Experience with PPV/FAI
  • Strong communicator capable of working through complex issues with peers, management, suppliers, and other adjacent functions
  • Ability to analyze supplier defect/performance data and identify trends for targeted improvement initiatives
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, specifications, requirements
  • Experience with requirements management and flowdown
  • Proficient in MS Office Products including Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Technical Bachelor's degree
  • Active Secret clearance
  • LSS Green Belt certified
  • Experience with NetInspect for PPAP/FAI
  • Experience in semi-conductor wafer fab and processing
  • Knowledge of semiconductor wafer processes and related chemicals
  • Experience in photonics / semiconductor packaging, as well as in semiconductor assembly processes, such as die bonding, hybridization, wire-bonding, and assembly
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 or equivalent Quality Management Systems
  • AS9145

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118095 - $200762
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
