The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Los Angeles, CA.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level and Senior Level Engineers.
This position will lead development & application of AS9145 / Advanced Product Quality Planning in the Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Supply base in the Southern California region of the U.S.
This position requires on-site support of multiple suppliers. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at supplier facilities. The candidate must reside in Southern California area and work from home when not traveling to supplier sites and/or Boeing facilities.
While the position will focus primarily on supporting suppliers based in the Southern California region, supplier support and travel to other regions of the U.S. may be necessary to support program needs and to balance team capacity.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead Preventive Quality projects in the supply base including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and associated processes per the requirements of AS9145.
  • Leads stakeholders in analysis of product & process data, develop and implement preventive actions to ensure delivery of products that meet customer requirements.
  • Document work status and effectively communicate project status to management and key stakeholders.
  • Advise management and intercompany cross functional teams of risk to program schedule and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development and continual improvement of associated processes and procedures.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License and have the use of a personal vehicle to travel for business reasons to meet suppliers.

  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) implementation within a supply base.
  • Proficiency in the use of advanced quality tools such as Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, DFMEA, PFMEA, Measurement Systems Analysis, and Manufacturing Process Capability Assessments.
  • Ability to interpret GD&T, read blueprints and digital product definition models.
  • Works under minimal direction
  • Ability to travel up to 40% to supplier sites and Boeing facilities.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 3+ years' experience in the application / deployment of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) or AS9145 within organizations
  • 3+ years' experience in a production-related discipline such as Manufacturing, Quality, Production Engineering, Supplier Management, and/or Supplier Quality

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years' experience in engineering/manufacturing/quality field (quality engineering, industrial engineering, design engineering, manufacturing engineering)
  • Experience implementing APQP within the aerospace and defense industry
  • Experience in technical training and/or coaching
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplined teams including internal customers and suppliers
  • Experience working with Quality Standards in the Aviation Industry such as AS9100, AS6500
  • Experience in a wide range of product categories and/or commodities (i.e. mechanical, electrical, assemblies, systems etc.)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certification

Typical Education:
Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Level 4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Typical Summary Pay Range:
Level 3: $107,100 - $144,900
Level 4: $130,900 - $177,100
