Job Description

The Supplier-to-Market Quality Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and the continual improvement of the quality and food safety processes across the 1FG value chain to support quality performance and the consistent delivery of products that conform to quality and food safety standards. This role enables quality compliance of business initiatives and provides support for decision-making and resolution of supplier-to-market quality-related issues to enable business continuity.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops processes relevant to supplier and toller quality management, manufacturing quality, new product and process quality, and to distribution and marketplace quality.
  • Deploys and strategically supports the implementation of the Supplier-to-Market Quality processes, as well as applicable management systems elements (e.g. food safety prerequisite programmes) 
  • Ensures the regulatory compliance of manufacturing, distribution & marketplace operations. Ensures that the business units are consistently updated on relevant regulations.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders and functional management teams to obtain and maintain alignment and support for Quality activities.
  • Provides expertise and support, including training, relevant to quality and food safety management.
  • Participates in the risk reviews of the Quality function.
  • Guides project managers in the preparation of Quality Management Parameters (QMP) of PMO projects, and tracks the completion and approval of the QMPs. 
  • Enables compliance of business initiatives and projects to applicable quality and food safety requirements, including regulatory requirements.
  • Performs assessments of suppliers, tollers, manufacturing operations, and distribution and marketplace operations, including partners’ facilities (e.g. customer facilities, retail concessionaires, franchise stores), to verify conformance to quality, food safety and regulatory standards.
  • Provides support to manufacturing units and other company operating units for their 3rd party audits (e.g. management system certifications, customer audits)
  • Collects and analyzes data relevant to the quality performance of suppliers, manufacturing and distribution & marketplace operations, and evaluates the results of analysis of audit outcomes and findings to determine appropriate initiatives or programs that will enable improvement. 
  • Conceptualizes, develops and deploys appropriate initiatives or programs to support and continually improve quality performance of suppliers, manufacturing operations, and distribution & marketplace operations, and to inculcate and sustain a strong quality culture.
  • Assists in the implementation of incident management and crisis resolution, and business continuity activities.

Other Responsibilities

  • Complies with company and regulatory standards and policies for quality, food safety, Halal, environment, health, and safety, as well as to internationally-recognized management system standards to which the organization subscribes.
  • Responsible for reporting problems/ issues related to quality, food safety, Halal, environment, health, safety, and management systems to identified authorities.
  • Actively participates in relevant company programs and activities under quality improvement, safety & security, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, risk management etc. 
  • Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the immediate superior.

Qualifications

Education: 

Must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, or any Science and Technology course. 

Experience: 

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in Quality Management and/ or Quality Systems in the Food/ Feed Manufacturing Industry (supplier quality, manufacturing quality, distribution & marketplace quality). 
  • With experience in process/ systems development and auditing 

Licenses: 

  • Preferred
  • Food Safety Compliance Officer (FSCO) certification is an advantage.

  • Advance knowledge and understanding of Quality, Halal, and/ or Food Safety Management Systems (incl. GMP, GWP, HACCP and other food safety prerequisite in programmes) 
  • Above average skills in process development and re-engineering
  • Advance skills in process/ systems auditing
  • Proficient in Google Applications and/or Microsoft Office programs.
