Job Description:
The Workday Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation, support, and continuous improvement of the Workday production environment. This hands-on role combines Workday configuration capability with operational ownership of support intake, prioritization, testing, documentation, vendor coordination, and cross-functional follow-through. The position resolves routine and moderately complex configuration and production-support needs within assigned areas of expertise, coordinates escalation when specialized technical support is required, and maintains visibility into production risks, dependencies, and upcoming changes.
How you’ll spend your time:
- Configuring and maintaining Workday functionality for routine and moderately complex production needs within assigned areas of expertise.
- Troubleshooting production issues, evaluating root causes and business impact, and implementing or coordinating appropriate solutions.
- Owning daily Workday support intake, triage, prioritization, assignment, status tracking, escalation, and closure.
- Maintaining a visible backlog of production issues, enhancements, configuration requests, risks, dependencies, owners, and next actions.
- Coordinating requirements, approvals, testing responsibilities, migration readiness, and post-production follow-up across business and technical stakeholders.
- Coordinating day-to-day activities with Workday support partners and specialized consultants, monitoring open items and escalations through resolution.
- Maintaining operating procedures, configuration documentation, testing evidence, issue history, and support knowledge for sustainable operations.
- Promoting consistent testing, approvals, documentation, and production-readiness checks before changes are moved into production.
- Supporting knowledge transfer and training so functional teams can complete appropriate Workday processes more independently.
- Providing recurring operational reporting on backlog, aging items, critical risks, vendor dependencies, and upcoming changes.
- Participating in Workday release planning, regression testing, production migration activities, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Directing or assigning operational work, coordinating priorities, supporting training and knowledge transfer, and providing input on team performance and resource needs.
- Responding promptly to critical production issues and escalating material risks, blocked items, and decisions requiring leadership direction.
- Supporting Workday release, testing, and production activities that may occasionally require work outside standard business hours.
- Performing other Workday operational duties consistent with the scope of the position.

- Workday certification or formal Workday training in relevant functional areas preferred; additional functional, reporting, security, or integration training is a plus.
- Advanced hands-on proficiency with Workday in a production environment, including configuration, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and support tracking.
- Knowledge of Workday business processes, migration readiness, security considerations, reporting and integration dependencies, change controls, vendor coordination, and escalation practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess root causes, business impact, system dependencies, risks, testing requirements, and appropriate escalation paths.
- Strong project and operational management skills, including the ability to balance urgent production needs, planned enhancements, configuration responsibilities, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain issues, priorities, decisions, risks, testing requirements, status, and next actions to technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Ability to build productive working relationships across HR, Benefits, Recruiting, Payroll, Finance, IT, functional teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, confidentiality, and a disciplined approach to testing, approvals, documentation, and production of change readiness.
- Ability to identify practical improvements to support processes, backlog visibility, testing discipline, documentation, functional self-sufficiency, and vendor utilization.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, operate standard office technology, communicate accurate information, and occasionally move about an office environment.
- Ability to travel occasionally for business meetings, training, or Workday-related events, as needed.
