The Opportunity
Reporting to the principal Scientist of VC-Upstream Operations, the intern will perform media and buffer preparations to support cell culture, seed train maintenance, transfection and harvest processes, working with shake flasks, rocking -motion bioreactors to produce AAV vectors for internal groups as well as external collaborators under supervision.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform media and buffer preparation to support suspension cell culture, transfection, and harvest processes.
- Working with shake flasks, rocking-motion and stir-tank bioreactors to produce AAV vectors for internal groups as well as external collaborators to support proof of concept animal studies and pre-clinical IND-enabling studies.
- Process data, identify atypical results, and present conclusions and future work at internal group meetings.
- Follow standard operation procedures (SOPs) and protocols; ensure proper execution and documentation; share learnings, gained knowledge and insights with the team.
- Support the maintenance of equipment and consumables.
What We're Looking For
- Currently attending a college or university majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, or relevant scientific discipline.
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques preferred.
- Task- and team-oriented, self-motivated and demonstrates ability to multitask.
- Excellent organizational skills, record keeping abilities.
- Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
- Proficient in MS Office.
