Ready to kick-start your career in construction? Kaufman Lynn’s paid, full-time Summer Internship Program gives you the chance to dive into one of four tracks—Field, Project Management, Estimating, or Safety —working side by side with our teams on real projects that mirror our entry-level roles. Along the way, you’ll tour active jobsites, sharpen your skills in workshops, connect with leaders, and give back to the community. It’s more than just a summer job—it’s your opportunity to explore the industry, build your resume, and see what a future in construction management could look like with one of the nation’s top builders.
Job Summary
Interns will select a focus area from one of three tracks. Each provides direct mentorship, exposure to KL’s systems and processes, and real-world learning opportunities aligned with our entry-level career paths.
- Field Track – Step into a role similar to our entry-level Field Engineers, shadowing a Superintendent on an active jobsite. You’ll gain experience in scheduling, safety, quality control, subcontractor coordination, and close-out activities. By the end of the summer, you’ll understand the fundamentals of jobsite management and the Superintendent’s role in delivering a successful project.
- Project Management Track – Work closely with Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers in a role similar to our entry-level Project Engineers. You’ll learn the documentation, systems, and communication that drive projects from preconstruction through close-out, including RFIs, submittals, trade coordination, and change orders.
- Estimating Track – Join our preconstruction team in a role similar to an entry-level Estimator. You’ll gain exposure to take-offs, bid reviews, and proposal preparation while learning how preconstruction and cost analysis shape the success of a project before it breaks ground
- Safety Track - At KL, you’ll gain hands-on experience similar to an entry-level Safety Coordinator, working alongside project teams to support jobsite safety. Responsibilities include reviewing safety documentation, observing worker activities for compliance, and participating in site safety assessments.
Internship Program Highlights
· Worksite Showcase Days: Visit other KL jobsites to experience different project types and phases.
· Volunteer Day: Partner with Habitat for Humanity or another local nonprofit, reflecting KL’s commitment to community service.
