Job Summary:

We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our team as Summer Fun Workers! In this seasonal role, you will be responsible for organizing and facilitating recreational activities and events that bring joy and excitement to participants. While working, you'll help create a fun, safe, and engaging environment that fosters positive experiences for everyone involved.

Examples of Duties:

SUMMER FUN POSITIONS

Program Leaders- Demonstrates quality leadership by stimulating interest in the recreation aides and participants. Ability to work well with children (including children with special needs). Implements lesson plans and curriculum for recreational activities including games; sports activities; arts and crafts; music and dance.  Functions as the primary source of communication to the parents. Prepares daily reports; attendance logs, incident reports, & other necessary documents as required by standard operations and procedures of the program. Training & Experience: Experience in County’s Summer Enrichment Program or child-care services. 

Recreation Aide - Ability to work well with children (including children with special needs). Monitors specific group of children between the ages of 5 and 11. Assists Program Leaders with organized games, music, and crafts.  Hand out, collects, cleans and sanitizes equipment and supplies.   Cleans and sanitizes table-tops and chairs. Performs other related duties as required. Training & Experience: High school student, graduate, or former Jr. Leader that is 16 years of age or older by program start date.

ADA Recreation Aide - Must be able to meet all of the duties of a Recreation Aide. Must work well with children that are in need of special program accommodation and who may require one-on-one supervision. Encourages the integration of children with special accommodations into daily activities while still promoting and meeting the child’s independent needs. Must be creative and resourceful when planning and implementing age appropriate indoor & outdoor activities. Training & Experience: Experience with special needs children/adults highly preferred. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, one or more years of college preferred.

Summer Pool Lifeguard- Ability to assist Pool Guards in preventing accidents, enforcing pool safety regulations; maintaining pool and pool area, and performs pool guard duties under immediate supervision.  

Golf Program Coordinator- Must be able to work with children (including those with special needs).  Qualified to teach basic introductory golf.  Well versed in rules and etiquette of golf.  Has an understanding of the golf swing.  Ability to coordinate a program with safety and welfare of students as priority.  Able to make program fun while still helping students learn the basics of golf.  Able to conduct classroom learning sessions on etiquette, rules, safety and instruction.

Golf Recreation Aide - Must be able to work with children (including those with special needs).  Knowledge of basic golf fundamentals.  Able to accept and follow instructions from coordinator.

Custodian- Performs routine manual work in cleaning and maintaining an assigned building; and performs other related duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

SUMMER FUN REQUIREMENT
To qualify for the County of Kauai Summer Student Enrichment Program, you MUST be 16 years or older and be available for the duration of the program.
To qualify for the County of Kaua'i Summer Pool Lifeguard Program you MUST be 17 years or older and be available for the duration of the program.

  • Program Leaders ($21.00/hour) – June 10, 2026 to July 24, 2026 (Hours of work M-F 7:30a – 4:30p)
  • ADA Recreation Aide ($20.00/hour) - June 10, 2026 to July 24, 2026  (Hours of work M-F 7:30a – 4:30p) 
  • Recreation Aide ($16.00/hour) - June 10, 2026 to July 24, 2026  (Hours of work M-F 7:30a – 4:30p)
  • Summer Pool Lifeguard ($18.00/hour) –June 2, 2026 to August 29, 2026 (Hours of work M-F 7:30a - 4:30p)
  • Golf Program Coordinator ($25.00/hour) –June 15, 2026 - July 24, 2026 (Hours of work M-Th 7:30a - 12:30p; F 12:30p - 5:30p) 
  • Golf Recreation Aide ($17.00/hour) –June 15, 2026 - July 24, 2026 (Hours of work M-Th 7:30a - 12:30p; F 12:30p - 5:30p) 
  • Custodian ($24.00/hour) - June 10, 2026 to July 24, 2026 (Hours of work M-F 5:00p – 7:00p)
 
PLEASE NOTE: MANDATORY PAID PROGRAM ORIENTATION.
  • Program Leaders, Recreation Aide and ADA Recreation Aide - June 10, 2026 (8 hours) and June 12, 2026 @ assigned work location (8 hours)

Summer Fun worksites are: Wailua Golf Course, Anahola Clubhouse, Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center, Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center, Koloa Elementary School, Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, Hanapepe Neighborhood Center, and Kekaha Neighborhood Center.
