About the Job:

Relman Colfax PLLC hires two to four summer associates each year to work in the firm’s Washington, DC office. We are seeking applications for summer associate positions for Summer 2027. Summer associates work on a variety of assignments for the firm’s civil rights litigation and counseling practices, including legal research and writing, preparing attorneys for depositions and hearings, and assisting with investigations and case development.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to civil rights, strong academic credentials, and an interest in litigation. Rising 3Ls are preferred.  

This job posting will run from May 20, 2026 until July 15, 2026. We will review applications, conduct interviews, and extend offers after the application submission period closes, and expect to fill all positions by September 2026.

Candidates interested in the position should send a cover letter, resume, transcript, list of three references, and writing sample (no longer than 10 pages).

The program is 10 weeks long and the salary is $1,000 per week. Per DC law, the Firm discloses that this position does not include health benefits.

Relman Colfax PLLC is a national civil rights law firm, with a litigation practice focused on combating discrimination and obtaining equity, including in the areas of housing, lending, consumer protection, employment, public accommodations, education, and police accountability. We conduct internal investigations and provide counseling regarding consumer protection, privacy, lending, employment, whistleblower, and federal regulatory matters. Our practice also includes analysis and strategy regarding public policy issues and proposed legislation affecting civil rights.
