Reports to: Senior Director, Environmental Health, Safety, and Security
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Co-op/Intern to join our Environmental Health and Safety team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related fields to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate will assist in the implementation of safety initiatives, conduct inspections, and contribute to a culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in workplace inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support the preparation and delivery of safety training sessions for employees.
• Conduct research and analysis on best practices in safety management and environmental compliance.
• Help maintain safety records and documentation, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents and near-misses, preparing reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Collaborate with various departments to promote safety awareness and encourage a proactive safety culture.
• Participate in safety meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement in safety practices.
• Support the EHSS team with administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in safety management, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations (OSHA, EPA) and EHS principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Previous safety-related experience or coursework is a plus, but not required.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies.
• Basic knowledge of industrial processes and hazards.
• Experience with data analysis and presentation tools.
