The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Therapist plays a vital role in supporting clients experiencing challenges related to substance use. Utilizing evidence-based practices and a holistic approach, this therapist conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, and facilitates individual and group therapy sessions. The SUD Therapist collaborates with clients, their families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote recovery, resilience, and overall well-being.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify substance use issues and co-occurring mental health conditions.

·        Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs and goals.

·        Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery and coping strategies.

·        Provide psychoeducation regarding substance use disorders, treatment modalities, and relapse prevention techniques.

·        Monitor client progress and adapt treatment plans as necessary to ensure effectiveness.

·        Collaborate with case managers, healthcare providers, and community resources to coordinate care for clients.

·        Document all client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes following agency and regulatory guidelines.

·        Participate in ongoing training and education to remain informed of best practices in the field of addiction treatment.

·        Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards, including HIPAA regulations and agency policies.

 

Supervision Given: 

This position does not supervise any staff.

 

Supervision Received: 

The SUD Therapist reports to the Clinical Director or designated supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

·        Must be licensed to practice in the state you are providing services in.

·        NPI and Medicaid Provider Number preferred and required to start work.

 

Education:

·        High School Diploma or Equivalent Required with appropriate licensure.

·        An associates, bachelors, or master's degree in counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.

 

Certification:

·        Relevant certifications related to substance use treatment (e.g., Certified Addiction Specialist) preferred.

 

Experience:

·        Experience in substance use treatment and knowledge of evidence-based practices for addiction recovery is preferred.

 

Physical Effort:

·        Primarily requires sitting during sessions with some movement for activities or group settings.
