Substitute Coordinator (Begins Early July 2026)
Job Summary:
Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the School currently enrolls 940 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse, democratic society and global community.”
We are currently seeking a Substitute Coordinator to hire substitute teachers, secure new-hire paperwork, and provide a general orientation to new substitute teachers. The Coordinator organizes all substitute coverage for both planned and unplanned faculty and assistant teacher absences. The Coordinator supervises one (1) Daily Substitute who is on-site each school day. The Substitute Coordinator also manages and reserves common area spaces for meetings and other events. This role is a 12-month position.
Essential Functions:
- Work extensively with Human Resources and Division Heads to ensure a complete Sub List and coordinate new hire procedures
- Supervise, train, and assign the daily activities for the Daily Sub(s) and provide support and communication to the Daily Sub
- Coordinate the Sub List and ensure appropriate sub placement on a daily basis
- Act as the front-line person for the Daily Sub and regular subs in regard to daily sub placement and communication and help resolve problems when necessary
- Prepare, maintain, and submit bi-monthly sub payroll report to the Business Office and Human Resources
- Generate and send Daily Sub Reports to Division Heads, Division Coordinators, Security, and any other applicable parties
- Coordinate with Division Heads and Division Coordinators regarding lesson plans, long term absences, appropriate sub placement, etc.
- Maintain Planned and Unplanned Absence Form and Spreadsheet/Info
- Communicate proper sub request procedures to Faculty
- Maintain the Blue Bulletin
- Schedule and reserve common area spaces for meetings and other events
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Education or a closely related discipline
- Familiarity with the tenets of progressive education
- A knowledge and understanding of teaching at all levels
- Familiarity with the general curricula in JK-12 schools
- Ability to interact well with students of all ages, as well as faculty, staff, administration, and parents
- Superior organizational and follow-up skills
- Expert attention to detail
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, responsible and extremely flexible
Compensation:
Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000
