We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineer with 4-8 years of related professional experience to contribute to our diverse portfolio of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in structural engineering principles, a passion for technical design, and a keen interest in integrated design and delivery processes. The position will work closely with senior engineers and other team members to deliver high-quality projects that meet client goals and adhere to the firm’s standards.  Potential candidates should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a passion for high quality design and collaborative processes. This position requires understanding of all project phases including schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction contract administration. 


Technical Responsibilities:

  • Establishment of project design criteria, procedures and processes.
  • Perform structural engineering analysis, design, and calculations for vertical building structures with guidance of a senior engineer.
  • Analysis and design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, wood and masonry framing systems for vertical building structures.
  • Participation in submittal of documentation for permitting/regulatory review with multiple local agencies and jurisdictions.
  • Utilization of RAM Structural System, SAP2000, Enercalc and associated engineering analysis and design software.
  • Utilization of Autodesk Revit Structure building information modeling (BIM) software.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of design documentation including BIM models, drawings, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Conduct research on materials, products, building codes, systems, and sustainable design practices to inform project decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including architecture, sustainability, construction, and other consultants, to support the integrated delivery of projects.
  • Evaluate system selection based on analysis of multiple design options and established constraints.
  • Clearly and concisely convey technical solutions and performance objectives while ensuring complete project alignment with client goals, project design, sustainability objectives, schedule, budget, constructability and post-occupancy performance.
  • Perform onsite surveys of existing building conditions and documenting field measurements and observations.
  • Perform construction phase activities including submittal review and construction site observations.
  • Participate in cross-discipline career development. Engage in continuous learning opportunities, attend industry events, and participate in internal training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Adapt to various roles within a project and perform at a high level. Proactively accept tasks beyond the primary scope and adjust to changing priorities to ensure project success, team collaboration, and firm excellence.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from ABET accredited structural engineering program. Master of Science (MS) degree from ABET accredited structural engineering program a plus.
  • Experience: 4-8 years of full-time structural engineering experience in an engineering firm, with exposure to analysis, design, and documentation for vertical building projects utilizing structural steel, reinforced concrete, wood and masonry framing systems.
  • Knowledge: IBC, ASCE and ICC Building Codes and Standards required.
  • Licensing and Certification: Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam and EIT Certification required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.  LEED or other sustainable building certification a plus.
  • Skills: critical thinking, analytical problem-solving skills, technical expertise, attention to detail, adaptability, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Passion: A genuine interest in integrated design and delivery, with a commitment to professional growth and development.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
