Job Description:
Summary:
The person in this position will work with project teams to provide computer-aided drafting expertise, primarily using Revit and AutoCAD software. Typical duties may include data collection, planning, and problem-solving related to structural design. Project work will include drafting design of foundations and supports, steel framing, access platforms, stacks, pumping and piping systems, industrial equipment, conveyor systems, and various details. Practical design knowledge of steel and concrete structures such as buildings, dams, hydraulic structures, equipment supports, foundations, retaining walls, and other similar structures will be required, as well as the ability to visualize three-dimensional relationships from two-dimensional views. Drawings will be completed using Revit and/or AutoCAD software. Occasional assistance with mechanical, electrical, or civil design may also be required.
Minimum Qualifications:

Two-year technical certificate or other education or training directly related to the job responsibilities described above

5 years of structural design experience with Revit

5 years of structural design experience with AutoCAD

Job experience in a related industry (structural, mechanical, architectural, construction, detailing, fabrication, etc.) where reading and understanding engineering design drawings was required

Ability and desire to work independently and collaboratively with structural engineers and CAD and design staff

Attention to detail

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Ability to follow safety procedures and work in a safe manner

Flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedule when required to meet deadlines and client needs

Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
-
10 or more years of job experience in a related industry

Experience with additional 3D software such as Advance Steel, Plant3D, Navisworks, Civil3D, CADWorx, Inventor, Solidworks, etc.

Experience working with Autodesk BIM360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud

Familiarity with work on a variety of structural systems, including heavy steel framing, concrete foundations, and concrete and masonry walls

Experience with drafting and design in other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, civil, or electrical
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is/can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Duluth, or Hibbing, Minnesota; Bismarck, North Dakota; or Ann Arbor, Michigan, offices.
