POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT  

As our Business Strategy Specialist you will support the Dallas Business Unit (BU) by taking meaningful ownership of strategic projects and executing integrated initiatives that drive visibility, alignment, and business enablement. You will move beyond foundational support to independently lead cross-functional workstreams, develop data-driven recommendations, and help shape the stories that drive Moss forward.  

 

This role is ideal for a motivated professional who has built a solid foundation in business strategy or a related field and is ready to operate with greater autonomy, influence cross-functional conversations, and develop the strategic acumen needed to grow into a trusted thought partner for BU leaders and senior stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with the Strategy, Marketing, and Communications manager and the broader team, contributing to fresh perspectives while continuing to grow your strategic toolkit.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the SMC manager to develop and implement strategic initiatives critical to the Dallas BU’s success, aligning priorities with business objectives. 

  • Conduct research and gather market intelligence to inform BU strategy, support business planning, and identify emerging opportunities.  

  • Support quarterly and annual business planning processes by preparing presentations, reports, and visual materials that communicate BU performance, initiatives, and alignment to company strategy.  

  • Support the development of presentations and materials for leadership, client, and team meetings to effectively communicate strategic objectives and results.  

  • Independently manage cross-functional projects with internal stakeholders to gather inputs and drive progress.  

  • Support senior leaders and business unit partners by identifying and anticipating needs, asking thoughtful questions, and translating ambiguous challenges into structured plans.  

  • Develop and maintain project plans timelines, and tracking mechanisms to ensure on-time delivery and stakeholder alignment.  

  • Craft compelling narratives and communication materials tailored to diverse internal audiences, including leadership and executive teams.  

  • Contribute to the identification of best practices, process improvements, and opportunities for strategic innovation across the business unit.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one-to-two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Strategy, or a related field (MBA preferred) 

  • 3–5 years of experience in business strategy, communications, operations, consulting, or a related field 

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel 

  • Data visualization skills a plus (i.e., PowerBI, Smartsheets) 

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills—able to interpret data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear recommendations 

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills—able to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with leadership 

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking initiative with limited direction 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas 

  • Self-starter with strong follow-through, attention to detail, and organizational skills 

  • Team player with a collaborative mindset and the ability to build relationships across functions 

  • Must be able to manage confidential information with discretion 

  • Must have the ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends to meet project deadlines 

  • Curious, eager to learn, and open to feedback 

  • Strong work ethic, maturity, and a positive, can-do attitude

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Business, Marketing, Management, Communications, or related
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience (preferably in AEC industry)
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Keynote
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills, including creating reports and visual materials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects, developing project plans, timelines, and tracking mechanisms
