About the Role:

The Storeroom Assistant at UAB Medical West plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient management and organization of inventory within the storeroom. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials and supplies to support daily operations across various departments. By maintaining a clean and orderly storeroom environment, this role contributes to operational efficiency and safety. Ultimately, the Storeroom Assistant supports the seamless flow of materials, enabling the organization to meet its production and service goals effectively. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic experience in storeroom operations
  • Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a storeroom or warehouse environment.
  • Basic knowledge of safety standards and procedures related to material handling.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality, documenting any discrepancies.
  • Organize and store materials in designated locations to optimize space and accessibility.
  • Distribute materials and supplies to internal departments based on requests and requisitions.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and report any shortages or excesses to management.
  • Ensure the storeroom is clean, safe, and compliant with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Assist with the preparation of inventory reports and support periodic audits.
  • Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to forecast supply needs and manage stock levels.

Skills:

The Storeroom Assistant uses organizational skills daily to maintain an orderly and efficient storeroom, ensuring materials are easy to locate and access. Attention to detail is critical when inspecting shipments and updating inventory records to prevent errors that could disrupt operations.
