State Income Tax Analyst

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$61,500 - $143,000

Our State and Local Income Tax organization is looking for a hardworking and motivated tax analyst to support our growing company. This position is responsible for preparing and/or reviewing state and local income and franchise tax returns, preparing analyses and deliverables related to financial reporting of state income tax, conducting tax research and supporting tax audits.

Key Objectives:

• Complete tax returns in a timely and accurate manner
• Provide quarterly forecasts for planning, estimated tax payments, and external reporting purposes
• Anticipate, defend, and resolve state audit matters
• Use technical expertise to successfully complete quarterly and annual tax accounting and related financial reporting activities
• Track, research, and advise on current and changing tax laws and regulations
• Seek and develop ways to improve processes

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree
• Minimum of 2 years tax and accounting experience in a large public accounting firm and / or large corporate tax environment
• CPA eligible
• Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role.

Additional Preferences:

• 2 or more years state income/franchise tax experience
• Federal tax experience
• CPA Certification
• Strong communication skills
• Strong proficiency in Excel / Microsoft Office
• Self-motivated
• Tax audit and/or controversy experience
• Understanding of ASC 740/FAS 109
• Prior SAP and ONESOURCE software experience
• Proficiency, experience and/or interest in using process automation and/or data visualization/analytics tools such as Power Query, Power BI, etc.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with business partners and external parties
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
