Role

We are looking for a Staff Writer who will primarily write breaking news stories on press releases, company announcements, and other public documents—with a strong emphasis on speed, accuracy, and clarity. A background in writing about business or financial news is essential. 

The ideal candidate will have wire service, newsroom or similar experience, know or be able to efficiently learn our subject matter, have strong news judgment, and possess the ability to quickly create concise stories from complex information. Speed, accuracy and strong news judgment are critical. The candidate must be an excellent communicator, learn and adapt easily, and confidently work across different teams. The Staff Writer also must be capable of working independently to ensure Reorg’s content is held to its editorial standards. 

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic New York-headquartered global organization, working with experienced financial journalists, analysts, and lawyers. This role can be remote or hybrid, depending on location. We are in the process of establishing an entity in Pakistan and are expanding our editorial and data teams in the country.


Responsibilities

  • Write breaking news stories based on company announcements and third-party content
  • Monitor domestic press releases, SEC filings and other sources for key and topical developments to ensure Reorg is the first to unearth information on sub investment grade credit markets including high yield, distressed debt, and restructuring situations
  • Aggregate third-party content using smart news judgment, adding insights from and contributing to Reorg’s extensive collection of databases 
  • Support a team of experienced journalists, financial analysts, and lawyers
  • Adopt Reorg’s editorial standards, workflows, and processes in a timely manner
  • Be all-in on Reorg’s AI roadmap by writing earnings and other intel using our proprietary AI tool 
  • Provide crossover support between regions when necessary in order to provide 24/7 coverage

Requirements

  • Excellent written English and communication skills
  • Top-notch news writing and time management
  • Strong news sense and judgment, with experience or an interest in financial news and markets
  • Curious and proactive approach to learning the role
  • Able to manage and prioritize numerous projects simultaneously while working to tight deadlines
  • Change mindset and willingness to adapt as content objectives evolve
  • You will be required to cover shift work during the week, occasionally working earlier mornings (with notice) or additional hours to ensure we break news before our competitors
  • You will be required to work at least partial US east coast hours, with a start time as early as 5am EST. 
  • Experience with Monday.com and/or other project management programs is a plus
