Forbes seeks an intrepid reporter and writer to cover education with a focus on the intersection of business, technology, policy and finance. In other words, covering the education business and higher education, through a Forbes lens. The candidate should be able to pursue big scoops and to thrive in a fast-paced environment, where creativity and teamwork are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Write thought-provoking timely well reported stories; articles should be a combination of scoops, deeply-reported investigations and contrarian/Forbesian takes on the world of education.
- Cover the world’s best and worst players and institutions in the education space
- Monitor day-to-day education news
- Be comfortable working with data, from both the government and private sources to discover new trends.
- Oversee annual top colleges list as well as come up with new lists on the education beat.
The ideal candidate
- Has at least two years of experience covering business or education–and preferably, experience in both
- Shows previous success breaking news, covering big players & writing thoughtful features and investigative pieces
- Is proficient in analyzing financial data and statistics
- Is well sourced
- Bachelor’s degree
The annual base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000

In determining this range, we consider the experience, level of education (if applicable to the role), knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be had by a successful candidate as well as the budget and the company’s pay rates, generally.
