This position is looking for a highly motivated test engineer with emphasis in developmental and operational test of Anduril’s suite of Command & Control (C2) software and hardware systems. You will work heavily with cross-functional engineering and program stakeholders to support and/or lead a team focused on solving hard problems and changing the industry forever. The role will be responsible for planning, coordination, execution and reporting on all facets of the test program.
The Test and Evaluation team at Anduril works across the entire spectrum of products and business lines, as well as all flight operations and test range management. WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop and implement test strategies for Command & Control (C2) systems, ensuring alignment with design specifications and operational requirements.
- Act as lead test engineer for software and hardware systems to include Lattice, small autonomous vehicles, MENACE family of systems, and more.
- Plan and execute T&E of hardware and software with emphasis placed on resource planning, conducting subsystem, simulation, ground, and flight test, initial issue investigation, and process improvement/development.
- Track the status of test issues and observations, and work cross-functionally to establish priorities for issue resolution.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze test results, identify performance trends, and recommend enhancements or corrective actions.
- Work closely with program management and other engineering departments to develop requirements, and discuss test results to include collected data and observations.
- Be directly involved in fielding business line requests and collaborating cross-functionally across software, robotics, and mechanical teams to establish timelines and achieve program goals..
- Support the Command & Control (C2) Systems product team in understanding system capabilities and limitations in various operational scenarios.
- Conduct subsystem, ground, and flight testing at private and government-owned test ranges
- Manage the use of test ranges and coordinate with external agencies to facilitate testing activities.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Ensure the safe operation and rigorous evaluation of all test efforts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- 7+ years of experience as a lead test conductor/test director for Command & Control (C2) software and hardware systems to include 5 years of experience focusing on RF communications/tactical datalinks, developing requirements, test planning and execution, and test reporting
- Experience integrating and conducting test with various datalink architectures, networks, user interfaces, and hardware.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
- Previous expertise and working knowledge of the National Airspace System and UAS operating rules and regulations thereof.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing test plans for complex defense systems.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
- Strong computer and documentation experience.
- Must have strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas.
- Ability to travel as required for test planning and execution
- Able to work extended hours as required
- Familiarity with government testing protocols and regulations
- Bias for action – if you see a problem, you want to solve and fix it
- Ability to immediately obtain a U.S. Secret-Level security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD)
- Prior experience with software code/script building using programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, etc.
- Prior experience with Linux based systems and command line.
- Knowledge of advanced RF testing techniques, test equipment, and analysis of collected data.
- Previous experience with and/or current working knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-705 , MIL-STD-1553/1773, MIL-STD-1760, AS5653, etc.
- Experience in planning and executing EMI/EMC test plans/procedures in compliance with industry standards like MIL-STD, DO-160, or IEC, with understanding of EMI/EMC test equipment.
- Previous military radio experience (JTAC or similar)
- Previous product development experience (RF preferred)
- Ability to troubleshoot/repair electronics
- Working Knowledge with COTs Small UAS autopilot and mission planning software.
- Prior experience with Pixhawk flight controllers running Ardupilot and PX4 for air vehicles, including setup, operation, and tuning.
- Experience working with manned aircraft personnel and familiar with aviation terminology.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping, 3D printing, laser cutting, and working with composite materials.
- Experience with CAD modeling and PCB design.
- FAA Part 107 certification.
US Salary Range
$128,000—$163,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
