About the JobWe are looking for a very experienced Program Manager to lead complex, cross-functional projects from inception to launch, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and efficient execution. This position works hands on with engineering, product, marketing and design to define and execute the product roadmap. You are a senior leader with significant experience and expertise in program management, often managing or mentoring junior team members and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $140,500 to $209,000 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $163,000 to $194,000 CAD. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
What You’ll Do- Manage a portfolio of complex, cross-functional programs and services: Managing a portfolio of programs that involve multiple teams and departments, in close partnership with a senior engineering or product executive.
- Manage, mentor and oversee other program managers: As you manage the program portfolio, you will manage or oversee the work of other program managers, and provide advice and mentoring.
- Define and build best practices: Working with the team to codify and distill best practices in program management in the form of reusable artifacts, and strategies for consulting to delivery teams to elevate our execution effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ensuring alignment with organizational goals: Ensuring projects align with overarching objectives and key results.
- Driving project execution: Managing project schedules, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring timely delivery.
- Define and streamlining processes: Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness in project execution by periodically reassessing the process portfolio and improving, simplifying or killing processes as needed.
- Cross-functional alignment: Facilitating communication and collaboration between different teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
- Risk management: Identifying and mitigating potential risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentoring and development: Guiding and mentoring more junior team members in project management best practices.
- Influencing stakeholders: Ability to guide and influence senior stakeholders, mediate between them, and collaboratively solve problems to improve the overall program and organizational effectiveness.
- Deep technical expertise: Having a strong understanding of software development life cycle and being able to collaborate with eng informed decisions about technical trade-offs.
- Problem-solving: Identifying and resolving complex technical and organizational challenges.
- Stakeholder Communication: Translate complex data into actionable insights and document decision making as well as thought process.
- Metric & KPI Reporting: Define, implement, and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for growth initiatives. Establish and utilize existing systems for tracking and reporting these metrics to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- 15+ years of experience in technical program management, with a proven track record of successfully leading complex projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience. Technical degree preferred. Master’s level degree preferred.
- Experience managing a team or a department of technical program managers preferred.
- Understanding of relevant technologies; ability to make informed technical decisions, follow industry trends and quickly learn new technologies.
- Deep understanding of the software development life cycle and underlying issues and trade-offs.
- Experience delivering mobile applications and/or consumer hardware.
- Superior communications skills: interpersonal, written, and presentation.
- Superior organizational skills: note-taking, formal documentation, task assignment and tracking.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and starting from "scratch".
- Ability to think strategically and make decisions that align with organizational goals.
- Ability to structure problems and communicate them in a way to increase clarity and alignment for stakeholders.
- Ability to model calm, emotional maturity and composure in all dealings with stakeholders.
- Proven ability to understand and break down complex, multifaceted programs and projects into manageable pieces, organize cross-functionally and drive execution.
- Experience with program management tools and methods.
- Ability to produce and model world-class program management artifacts with appropriate content and format for all relevant stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to lead a cross-functional team.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and influence teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to be a functional leader for a growing department, partnering with the department leaders.
