About the Role
We’re looking for a Staff Engineer who will be a key member of a new Systems team at Syllo that will own Platforms, Frameworks, Tools, Patterns, and Architecture. This person will not only contribute directly to technical design and implementation but also foster a collaborative, high-performing environment where engineers can grow, learn, and thrive.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud-based infrastructure using Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, and other relevant technologies.
- Collaborate with our AI team to optimize data pipelines and integrate AI technologies to remove performance bottlenecks.
- Refactor existing systems to enhance scalability, including transforming stateful components into stateless ones, and applying extensive autoscaling and auto-repair mechanisms.
- Lead efforts on data ingestion and export processes, improving efficiency and reducing
dependencies on legacy technologies. - Drive platform reliability initiatives, including enhancing alerting, health checking, and incident management.
- Champion continuous improvement efforts, including cost control measures and technological upgrades.
- Oversee the development of internal tools that streamline workflows and reduce duplication of effort in development environments.
- Ensure the platform meets rigorous testing and security standards to maintain data integrity and security.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure meeting SLA
Qualifications
- Core software engineering skills, including proficiency in languages such as Python andRuby.
- Strong system administration experience, including fluency with Linux, networking, and bash scripting. Proficiency with GCP.
- Proficiency with cloud tools and distributed systems, such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres, and Elasticsearch, or equivalent technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform.
- Ability to design and implement scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience addressing scaling challenges and resource contention in distributedsystems.
- Engagement with the open-source community, including tool research, bug reporting, and code contribution.
- Expertise in cloud data security
Salary Range ($190- $230K) plus health insurance and equity.
