We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to drive the strategic technical direction of our billing platform, architect major end-to-end distributed systems, and provide high-impact technical leadership across our engineering organization.
As a Staff Software Engineer and key technical leader, you will partner with executive and cross-functional stakeholders to design, architect, and scale our next-generation billing and subscription management platform while setting engineering standards and technical strategy.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the platform's technical strategy and vision to empower the broader engineering organization
- Articulate architectural vision and complex system designs to both technical and executive audiences
- Establish high engineering standards and govern architectural consistency across all platform microservices and infrastructure
- Evaluate industry trends and emerging technologies to guide long-term architectural choices
- Partner with R&D leadership to elevate engineering execution, culture, and technical capabilities
- Architect for high availability, fault tolerance, and multi-tenant scalability while proactively driving initiatives to reduce technical debt
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of enterprise software engineering experience with deep expertise in Java, distributed systems, and scalable backend architectures
- Extensive experience architecting and operating mission-critical, robust, distributed financial or billing platforms at scale
- Proven track record of technical leadership, staff-level mentorship, and influencing engineering direction across an organization
- Experience using data and analysis to explain technical problems and provide detailed feedback and solutions
- Professional working proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing is a must!
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of enterprise software engineering experience
- Deep expertise in Java
- Deep expertise in distributed systems and scalable backend architectures
- Extensive experience architecting and operating mission-critical distributed financial or billing platforms at scale
- Proven technical leadership, staff-level mentorship, and organization-wide engineering influence
- Experience using data and analysis to explain technical problems and provide detailed feedback and solutions
- Professional working proficiency in English, both verbally and in writing
