The Storage & Replication team is responsible for the infrastructure and services that power Affirm’s most critical data pipelines by providing access to replicated data from across the organization through our Apache Iceberg-powered Data Lake and Snowflake-powered Cloud Data Warehouse. The team’s mission is to establish a modern, efficient, and scalable data infrastructure that empowers all Affirm teams to work seamlessly with data.

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Software Engineer who can drive the technical roadmap for our Cloud Data Warehouse, identifying opportunities to improve how we administer, operate and productize this mission-critical infrastructure to unlock substantial value within our business. You’ll have the opportunity to directly influence your team’s roadmap in close collaboration with your peers, share your knowledge and expertise with others and learn from some of the best on our shared mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives.

What You’ll Do

  • Influence technical strategy: Collaborate with a broad range of engineering and analytics teams, leveraging your experience to develop a long term technical roadmap that meets stakeholder and growing business needs

  • Design and develop: Architect and implement systems that unlock the value of our data within a secure, scalable and modern tech stack

  • Innovate: Stay ahead of industry trends in analytics infrastructure, driving innovative approaches and the adoption of best practices within your team

  • Collaborate: Work closely with your peers across the organization on projects that turn opportunity into results

  • Improve: Contribute to the ongoing improvement of your team’s quality standards and development processes

  • Build teams: Play an active role in building an inclusive and positive culture through active participation in team discourse, providing mentorship for junior team members and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement

 What We Look For

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in software engineering with 2+ years of technical leadership responsibilities

  • Technical Skills: Prior experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining OLAP systems with demonstrable knowledge of online storage systems, data replication processes and cloud data warehouses

  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and influence technical decisions across teams

  • Team Player: Community builder with strong network-building and collaboration skills and a strong desire to grow and mentor others

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Base Pay Grade - P

Equity Grade - 13

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $225,000 - $275,000

USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $200,000 - $250,000
