Description
The Role:
General Motors pioneers the innovations that move and connect people to what matters. We see a world with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. As we move toward this vision, software plays an integral role as it becomes more prominent in our vehicles.
Our ambition in Software & Services Product Management is to build a world-class software development culture that is part of the company's shared vision. We are creating an elite portfolio of software-defined vehicles by tightly integrating software, hardware, and services to create complete and compelling vehicle experiences for our customers.
As a Staff Product Manager for Simulation Testing, you will define and execute the strategy and roadmap for our Simulation Testing products enabling high-fidelity, scalable and trustworthy testing of GMs next generation autonomy. This role will drive innovation in how we assess AV performance at scale in Simulation across multiple dimensions like Safety, Comfort, Regulatory Compliance etc and provide insights faster to the autonomy development and validation teams. You'll lead cross-functional efforts to drive alignment and roadmap across end to end model evaluation, subsystem evaluation and infrastructure to support it.
Success requires strong technical judgment, principled decision-making, and the ability to build alignment across engineering, product, infrastructure, and operations teams. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, making tough tradeoffs, and thinking both from first principles and at fleet-wide scale
What You'll Do
  • Own the long-term product vision, setting strategic direction for Simulation Testing infrastructure at GM.
  • Build Novel Testing Products: Drive innovation in test pool composition (e.g. dynamic, generative test suites, and sufficient coverage sourcing) and automatic metrics interpretation that surface issues at scale without need for human analysis.
  • Unify Testing across Functions: Deliver a cohesive testing platform that aligns the needs of AV software developers and AV systems engineers-bridging the gap between development testing and release validation.
  • Partner with AI/ML Sim teams for Efficiency Opportunities: Leverage machine learning to automatically create and maintain simulation scenarios, and uncover test insights with minimal manual labeling or curation.
  • Scale via Contractor Workforce: Design workflows and tools to enable a skilled contractor workforce to participate in test creation, triage, maintenance, and analysis-freeing up core engineering resources and increasing operational velocity.
  • Help drive a data-driven culture and establish and monitor key metrics to
measure the effectiveness of Simulation Testing products.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 5+ years product management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related fields
  • Solid understanding of the modern software, tooling technology stack, including simulation and ML.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive projects forward, even without a clear path.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • Proven ability to balance tradeoffs between user needs and
expectations, technical requirements and constraints and business objectives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing, with the ability to effectively balance and integrate vision, strategy, and technical details in a cohesive narrative.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • An MBA or a master's Degree in a technical or engineering discipline
  • Experience working on Autonomous Vehicles, systems evaluation, ML infrastructure, or large-scale simulation/testing.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
