As a Data Protection Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in managing, optimising, and scaling our enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure. You’ll bring deep technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and a collaborative approach to ensure robust data protection and business continuity across our hybrid environments.

Your responsibilities will include:   
  • Administer and maintain the Commvault backup and recovery environment across hybrid infrastructure.

  • Monitor system health, job performance, and storage utilisation proactively.

  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of backup failures, restore issues, and performance bottlenecks.

  • Provide L3 support and mentor junior engineers.

  • Ensure adherence to data retention and protection policies.

  • Maintain detailed documentation for backup configurations, SOPs, and disaster recovery plans.

  • Design and test disaster recovery strategies.

  • Apply a strong risk mindset to proactively mitigate risks.

  • Automate routine backup tasks using scripting tools (Python, PowerShell, Ansible).

  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate Commvault with AWS and other platforms.

  • Participate in capacity planning and architecture reviews.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Expert-level hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations.

  • Strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets (ECS, Pure, VMAX).

  • Proficiency in VMware technology – Aria Suite, VRA/VRO Automation.

  • Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM) and AWS Cloud Practitioner certification.

  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and reporting dashboards such as Grafana and Prometheus.

It’s also nice if you have:

Extensive experience in enterprise backup and recovery.

Commvault Certified Professional or higher.

Strong understanding of storage concepts, allocations, and replication technologies.

Exposure to ITIL processes and change management.
