We have an immediate opening for a Staff Metallurgical Engineer. The Staff Metallurgical Engineer provides support and leadership to a manufacturing area, Laboratories or product line. The Staff Metallurgical Engineer will lead resolution of quality issues related to the area of support, and will evaluate and develop products, processes, and equipment based on customer requirements. Responsibility also includes ensuring ISO procedures and product/process control. This position involves working with support staff in this area, shift leaders, and the hourly work force. Due to the 24/7 manufacturing environment, working off-shift hours and/or weekends to support operations is expected although not always required.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years metallurgical experience
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Quality system experience (TS 16949 or AS 9100)
- 6 years of metallurgical experience
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Experience with Statistical Methods, Engineering Calculations, Physical Metallurgy, Mechanical Metallurgy, Metals Solidification Theory, and Material Processing
- Experience in the metals or aluminum industry
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, alloy systems, rolling, ingot casting processes, heat treatment, metal microstructures, and failure mechanisms.
- Familiar with Nadcap certification and audit preparation, especially for thermal treatment and/or materials testing.
