Staff Hardware Systems Engineer
AEye, Inc. is looking for a Staff Hardware Systems Engineer to contribute to the design and improve performance for cutting edge MEMS-based scanning LiDAR systems. The candidate will work on all aspects of the hardware and its testing/validation including the receiver (imaging) system, laser system, mechanical and electrical system. The candidate will work with optics engineers, mechanical engineers, laser engineers, quality engineers, hardware test engineers, and manufacturing engineers to develop requirements and test systems for system-level testing and validation. They will analyze results and will work closely with the development team to incorporate hardware design and control improvements. We are looking for someone who is well versed in imaging and laser hardware, systems testing and has experience with Python and C/C++ on Linux. The individual should also be capable of working in a cross-functional environment to resolve issues quickly.
Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement test systems for our receiver(imager) hardware and optics including defining of test metrics and conducting failure analysis
- Develop and implement laser test systems to improve IQC and efficiency by automation of testing and data collection
- Develop custom mechanical assembly solutions for test systems and product improvement
- Test station development and programming of test programs in support of operation and production line at our Tier 1 partners
- Lead comprehensive module validation and development through production development phases (EV, DV, PV)
- Write test software for automated data collection and analysis
- Coordinate data collection with team members, analyzing data, and presenting results to team members
- Develop verification procedures and test infrastructure to characterize modules and complete DV testing
- Synthesize test results and collaborate with development engineers on design improvements
- Perform technical writing for reports/proposals, prepare presentations, interact with team members, and lead technical development projects
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- This position is located in Pleasanton, CA and requires the candidate to be on-site 3-5 days/week depending on workload and testing schedule.
Essential Skills & Experience Requirements:
- BS or M.S in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or related fields with 5+ years of hands-on experience
- Proficient in C/C++ and Python programming
- Hands on experience with testing hardware and interfacing with lab test equipment
- Familiarity with Linux OS and development tools
- Experience with imaging systems, lenses, detectors and image evaluation
- Experience with motion control, automation programming
- Experience with lasers and fiber optics
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Understanding of optics and fiber optics
- Understanding of cameras, image sensors and qualification
- Understanding of lasers
- Understanding of temperature chambers
- Experience with Jira and, version control tools (Bitbucket, Github)
- Experience with radar/lidar systems
Annual Base Salary Range: $165K-185K
