Frontend, App Framework, and E-Commerce Tech Lead
The Opportunity
We're doing an AI-first engineering rebuild for a company that already has an audience of 100M+ people. This is a zero-to-one build with no legacy constraints. You're here to deliver rich experiences for the Beast community that go far beyond content viewing. You'll own the full development lifecycle, from architecture all the way through to release and operation, and drive AI-facilitated development to ship features at a speed that wasn't possible before.
The Product
You'll own the full app framework and e-commerce tech stack, both frontend and backend, and serve as the frontend point of contact across the entire engineering team. You are also responsible for the frontend development process end to end, including CI/CD, releasing, and publishing. That means:
- Architect and develop the core product surfaces: user account, content, and monetization features, building a fast and reliable experience for a large and growing user base.
- Optimize software reliability and performance across diverse user, device, and network tiers, ensuring a consistent experience globally.
- Decide where AI belongs in the development stack, from coding agents in the dev loop to driving a faster, higher-quality release process.
What You'll Do
- Architect the app framework and e-commerce stack and lead feature development with AI coding tools at the core, moving faster than traditional engineering cycles allow.
- Take full ownership of the development lifecycle, from architecture through CI/CD, releasing, and publishing, using AI-facilitated QA and SRE processes and tooling to hold the highest standard of engineering quality.
- Keep a close eye on the team's frontend services across security, reliability, and performance, and manage relationships with third-party service providers.
- Grow and mentor a team of engineers, building both the technical culture and the individuals within it.
Who You Are
- AI-Native: You're already burning through tokens and running coding agents daily to multiply your output.
- Framework Builder: 10+ years building and operating large-scale app frameworks and consumer-facing products, with real depth in app design principles, modern development processes, and iterating on product decisions driven by A/B experiment data.
- Performance Obsessed: You know where frontend performance actually breaks down in production, from crash rates and ANRs to render latency and network round-trips, and you have a track record of moving those numbers meaningfully.
- Influencer Without Authority: You've set technical direction adopted across multiple teams, moving engineers through reasoning and evidence rather than mandate.
Deep expertise architecting full-stack tech stacks for large-scale consumer applications, with hands-on software development experience across frontend and backend (Swift, Kotlin, React Native, or equivalent). Bonus points for familiarity with modern AI coding tools and AI-facilitated development processes.

Skills Required
- 15+ years building framework- or platform-level frontend architecture
- Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Expertise with React or a major frontend framework (rendering models and large-scale app architecture)
- Experience owning rendering, state, routing, and build/module tooling for product teams
- Proven ability to measure and optimize frontend performance and Core Web Vitals
- Experience driving architecture via RFCs and influencing senior engineers without authority
- Experience shipping design systems or shared frontend platforms adopted across multiple teams
- AI-native experience (using coding agents, integrating AI into developer workflows or product experiences)
- Experience with high-traffic e-commerce or marketplace frontends
- Familiarity with monorepo tooling at scale (Vite, Turbopack, Bazel, Nx)
- Experience with edge rendering and server/edge architecture
- Public presence (talks, open source contributions, writing) as a signal of influence
