Build What the World Depends On
The Role
The Staff Field Application Engineer drives adoption of Arm server SoCs, providing technical support, performance analysis, and training to customers while collaborating with internal teams on system integration and optimization.
Summary Generated by Built In
Role Overview:
Arm is seeking a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support adoption of Arm-based datacenter SOCs and compute platforms with cloud service providers, OEMs, ODMs, and semiconductor partners. This customer facing role sits at the intersection of sales, engineering, and customer success, helping customers evaluate, design in, and deploy Arm technology across SOCs, subsystems, and related software.
You will engage directly with customer architects, platform engineers, firmware teams, OS/kernel teams, and performance engineers to support demoing, evaluation, qualification, and large-scale deployment of Arm based server systems.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with customer facing skills and can engage from early pre-sales discovery through technical enablement and post-sales support.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the sales team as the primary technical interface for customers in driving adoption of Arm based datacenter SOCs, subsystems, and silicon platforms with semiconductor companies, OEMs, ODMs and ecosystem partners.
  • Help customers assess architectural tradeoffs across performance, power, area, TCO, software readiness, scalability, and ecosystem support.
  • Deliver technical presentations, roadmap discussions, workshops, demos, and architecture reviews for customer engineering and executive teams.
  • Support design-in and design-win activities by addressing technical objections, competitive positioning, and deployment risks.
  • Guide customers through silicon selection, system architecture tradeoffs, performance expectations, software enablement, and ecosystem readiness.
  • Support proof-of-concepts, benchmarking, competitive positioning, and technical responses during the pre-sales cycle.
  • Work closely with internal product, engineering, marketing, and business teams to communicate customer requirements, pain points, and market opportunities.
  • Help customers resolve technical blockers related to hardware, firmware, software, tools, performance, and system integration.
  • Understand customer product requirements and translate them into Arm solution recommendations spanning CPU, GPU, AI, security, functional safety, interconnect, and software.
  • Influence roadmap and product strategy by bringing structured field feedback into Arm business units.
  • Build trusted long-term relationships with customer engineering, program, and procurement stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Field Applications Engineer, Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, Platform Engineer, or Technical Account Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of server architecture, SoCs, CPUs, memory hierarchy, interconnects, networking, and platform software.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Data center CPUs or server platforms
  • Cloud infrastructure or hyperscaler environments
  • Silicon or SoC bring-up
  • Linux, firmware, virtualization, or systems software
  • Performance analysis and workload tuning
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to varied audiences.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as needed (approximately 20-30%)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Arm Neoverse, Arm server ecosystem standards, or Arm-based cloud/server deployments.
  • Familiarity with hyperscaler or CSP workloads, including cloud-native applications, AI inference/training, storage, and networking.
  • Familiarity with pre-sales technical support and design-win processes.
  • Knowledge of RAS, platform security, BMCs, Redfish/IPMI, PCIe, CXL, DDR, and accelerator integration.
  • Experience working with OEMs, ODMs, silicon vendors, or cloud infrastructure customers.
  • Strong understanding of competitive server architectures and market trends.

Salary Range:
$182,800-$247,300 per year
