Role Overview
As a Staff Engineer, you will be a key member of our cross-functional, agile team, reporting to the CTO. With a strong passion for making developers highly productive, you’ll influence our architecture and shape the technical vision and long-term strategy. Your hands-on role involves coaching and supporting team members, primarily using Java, to develop complex features. You will build products and features to enhance Satispay's payment system, taking ownership from conception to production. Our tech stack includes Linux, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Java, Jersey, Spring, DynamoDB, and AWS infrastructure. We use RESTful microservices on EC2, RDS/DynamoDB for persistence, S3 for storage, AWS Lambda for serverless functions, Kinesis, and ElasticSearch for log streaming.

Your mission:

• Mentor and guide teams. Leverage your proven track record of mentoring engineers to provide technical leadership, fostering best practices in coding, testing, and automation while building a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence.

• Drive operational excellence. Set and maintain a high operational bar for yourself and the team, ensuring our world-class infrastructure and distributed systems deliver consistent reliability and performance.

• Drive cross-Functional collaboration. Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business objectives and deliver cohesive, high-quality solutions.

• Architect complex frameworks. Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable architectures that support current and future product needs, ensuring the robustness of our platform.

• Foster a strategic vision. Apply your strategic mindset to prioritize initiatives for maximum impact, contributing to the long-term technical vision of Satispay.

Your ideal profile:

• Deep industry expertise. 10+ years developing and maintaining high-performance infrastructure and distributed systems, with a degree in Computer Science or related field. Extensive experience with Java architectures in cloud-based environments (AWS is a plus).

• Proven technical leadership. Demonstrated track record of technical execution and technical leadership at consumer-focused companies, driving engineering excellence and delivering complex systems at scale.

• Microservices and Agile methodologies. You are experienced with microservices infrastructure and Agile methodologies, driving the implementation of scalable, reliable, and efficient systems.

• Focus on simplicity and quality. You have a preference for simple solutions and share our passion for operational excellence, ensuring robust and maintainable code.

• Outstanding communication skills. Excellent interpersonal abilities with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. You can articulate complex technical concepts clearly and build trust with various stakeholders in a positive and professional way.

• Strategic mindset. Strong sense of what to prioritize for maximum impact, balancing immediate needs with long-term technical vision.

• Language proficiency. You are fluent in Italian and English.

• Passion for FinTech or Startup environments. You thrive in dynamic, fast-paced settings and are enthusiastic about contributing to the growth and innovation of a FinTech or startup company.
