The Role:

We need a Staff Engineer to act as a technical force multiplier—shaping architecture, scalability, and performance of Certn’s core systems. You’ll lead cross-team initiatives, define engineering standards, and solve complex technical challenges that span multiple product areas. As a hands-on contributor, you’ll mentor engineers, drive critical design efforts, and align technical direction with business goals.

What you will be doing:

• Technical Leadership & Innovation: Define and promote architectural standards, scalability patterns, and technical direction across teams. Drive cross-functional initiatives that ensure cohesion in how systems are built and integrated. Champion modern engineering practices—prioritizing code quality, reliability, observability, and documentation.

• Hands-On Engineering & Prototyping: Roll up your sleeves to write and review code in critical systems. Contribute to proof-of-concepts, unblock complex engineering efforts, and set the bar for performance and scalability.

• Codebase Maintenance: Refactor legacy code, squash technical debt, and optimize performance. Participate in a shared on-call rotation to support critical services and ensure platform reliability during and outside business hours

• Mentorship & Developer Growth: Provide technical mentorship and coaching to engineers at all levels. Lead design reviews, pair programming sessions, and cultivate a culture of continuous learning across the organization.
  

What You Bring to the Table:

• Architectural Track Record: Proven experience delivering complex, large-scale SaaS architectures that have made a significant business impact.an>

• Full-Stack Mastery: Deep knowledge of Python & Django on the back end, and TypeScript & React on the front end—able to set best practices and guide design across the stack.

• Cloud & Infra Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with AWS or Azure —deploying and managing SaaS applications using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent. Familiarity with Kubernetes or other container orchestration.

• SaaS Domain Knowledge: Vast experience in the SaaS industry, from subscription-billing integrations to customer management portals and analytics platforms.

• Mentorship & Influence: Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, drive technical discussions, and foster a culture of excellence and ownership.

• Strategic Mindset: Self-motivated, autonomous, and adept at making critical decisions that align engineering efforts with business goals.
