We are seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to join our Planning team. The Planning team's core responsibility lies in organizing audience data and leveraging statistical methods to forecast ad campaign performance. The successful candidate will work within a small team of world-class cross-functional engineers, playing a pivotal role in developing and optimizing algorithms and systems that power accurate and scalable ad inventory forecasting. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to deliver targeted advertisements efficiently and maximize revenue for our customers.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced forecasting models and algorithms to predict ad inventory availability and performance.
  • Architect scalable and efficient systems for processing large volumes of data and generating real-time forecasts.
  • Design and implement data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large volumes of data.
  • Leverage machine learning techniques for improving forecasting accuracy and granularity.
  • Craft and own the technical standards for the domain,
  • Create engineering practice standards and lead technical craftsmanship initiatives across the organization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the team.
  • Support on-call assignments and operational management.


Who you are:

  • 8+ years of hands-on industry experience and a bachelor's degree in a STEM field or 10+ years of hands-on industry experience.
  • A seasoned engineer who can influence our technical architecture, shape our product vision, and contribute to our engineering culture.
  • Deep understanding of design patterns, software development methodologies, and principles.
  • Strong background in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Expertise in SQL for data manipulation, querying, and pipeline management.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) and proficient in handling large-scale datasets.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and familiarity with statistical modeling techniques.
  • Capable of independently owning complex projects and delivering high-quality code with minimal guidance.
  • Experience developing protobuf and JSON-based API endpoints.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and cloud computing concepts, ideally on GCP.
  • Previous experience in Adtech is not required.


Our stack runs entirely on GCP. Our engineers are language agnostic, but core technologies for our backend include Golang, gRPC, BigQuery, BigTable, Postgres, Airflow, Docker, Spanner, Firebase, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
The approximate compensation range for this role is $200,000-$280,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by several factors, including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
