POSITION OVERVIEW
As a collaborative member of the Database Operations team, you are responsible for delivery and support of private and public cloud database technology required for mission critical applications used by major brands across the globe.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Manage SQL Server and Azure SQL databases through multiple lifecycle environments Dev, QA, Staging, and Production in 24x7 environment.
- Responsible for database administration activities for pre-production and production systems, day-to-day operations such as installation and configuration, monitoring, capacity planning, database security, access control, troubleshooting, maintenance, backup and recovery, performance tuning etc
- Perform problem analysis and resolution tasks as part of an on-call support rotation.
- Execute, maintain, enhance Disaster Recovery procedures and strategies.
- Develop, maintain, and document scripts (T-SQL, PowerShell, Python) for Database Administration.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Collaborate with other Global IT operations teams to provide services and support.
- Participate in incident handling and off-hours/weekend maintenance activities, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
10+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server Administration
5+ years of experience with Azure SQL Databases
Should be proficient in below technical areas
- T-SQL, PowerShell, Azure PowerShell scripts development
- High Availability, Disaster Recovery technologies implementation
- Transactional Replication
- Elastic agent jobs in Azure
- Performance tuning and T-SQL query optimization
Familiarity with Windows operating system administration and Virtualization concepts
Demonstrated ability to analyze and research performance related issues
Sound technical writing skills
Effective written and verbal communication
Must be highly motivated and with a demonstrated high level of initiative
Able to work independently and/or lead role when needed.
Should be ready to work in 24X7 rotational shifts and On-call
