The Role
Position Overview:
ShyftLabs is seeking an experienced Staff Data Architect to design and implement enterprise-scale data architectures for Fortune 500 companies. You will work with modern data platforms including Databricks, design data product-oriented operating models, and provide strategic guidance for organizations transitioning to AI-driven data ecosystems.

Job Responsibilities:
- Design enterprise data architectures supporting 1000+ databases across multiple business domains
- Architect target state solutions leveraging Databricks Unity Catalogue, Delta tables, and AWS cloud services for data product-oriented operating models
- Design strategic silver/gold/platinum data layer frameworks optimized for enterprise-scale analytics and AI readiness
- Define data governance frameworks, metadata strategies, and domain ownership models
- Design enterprise data integration patterns and technology selection strategies for diverse source systems
- Lead stakeholder workshops and facilitate cross-functional alignment on data architecture decisions
- Create enterprise data standards, policies, and best practices frameworks
- Design scalable architecture patterns supporting both batch and near real-time streaming requirements
- Enterprise Scale Expertise: Proven experience architecting data solutions for Fortune 500 companies with complex, multi-domain data ecosystems
- Strategic Vision: Ability to translate diverse business requirements into scalable technical architecture
- Data Product Leadership: Deep understanding of domain-driven design and data mesh principles for large-scale organizations
- Consulting Excellence: Expert-level workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and ability to present architectural strategies to executive leadership and technical teams
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture with Fortune 500 companies
- Expert-level experience with Databricks platform, Unity Catalogue, and Delta Lake architecture
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including S3, RDS, and database migration services
- Proven experience with CDC (Change Data Capture) patterns and AWS DMS
- Strong background in designing silver/gold/platinum data layer architectures for enterprise analytics
- Experience with job orchestration platforms such as Active Batch, Airflow, or similar enterprise schedulers
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management at enterprise scale
- Understanding of near real-time data processing and streaming architectures
- Experience with enterprise data integration patterns across diverse source systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data catalog and metadata management platforms
- Knowledge of data observability and monitoring platforms
- Background in enterprise integration patterns and API architecture
- Experience with multi-domain data architecture in complex organizations
- Familiarity with retail or energy industry data ecosystems
