Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Apply the principles of MMLA's Racial Justice Values Statement in all interactions. 

  • Focus on civil litigation in housing law to defend evictions, secure safe and healthy housing, and prevent housing discrimination in court and administrative settings. 

  • Professionally maintain an active litigation caseload, including hearings and trials. 

  • Additional duties may include complex litigation, policy advocacy, and community education. 

  • Additional duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be licensed to practice in the State of Minnesota.  

  • Demonstrate an interest in and commitment to the needs of low income and vulnerable clients. 

  • Show a commitment to working as a team member to serve client needs. 

  • Must demonstrate a desire to appear in court to litigate client rights. 

  • Excellent analytical and written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 

  • Dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Diverse economic, social, and cultural experiences preferred.  

  • Proficiency in a second language preferred, especially Arabic, Hmong, Oromo, Somali, or Spanish.  

  • Legal training, knowledge of community resources, and experience with case management software. 

Compensation Information: 

  • $80,000 to $90,182, depending on experience​, plus benefits. Benefits include family medical and dental insurance, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, 403(b) with employer match, FSA, employee assistance programs, and generous paid time off.​
