The Role: The Finance organization is responsible for the management and control environment for WorldQuant on a global basis. The global finance team works closely with business managers, local accounting groups, and consulting firms for affiliated offices around the world. Staff accountants serve as a critical component of the global team as they ensure the integrity of the financial data used in all reporting, including strategic planning efforts and ad-hoc financial analysis.
We are seeking a forward-thinking, hardworking Staff Accountant to join our global finance team. Under the mentorship of their manager, the individual will learn about the firm’s global financial infrastructure, systems, and procedures. After an initial training period, they will begin to oversee all day-to-day financial transactions for a portfolio of international entities. Over time, the accountant will begin to handle the oversight process more independently, contacting their supervisor to answer questions that may surface.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Form positive relationships with global outsourced accounting, payroll, and tax compliance providers
- Control accounts payable, expense report, and payroll pipelines, ensuring accuracy of postings
- Command of the general ledger, prepare account reconciliations, completely understand the contents
- Manage treasury function including company cash flow, burn rates, and intercompany transactions
- Timely fulfilment of all reporting requirements including those for tax and regulatory reporting
- Prepare financial statements in US GAAP and IFRS. Understand and provide reconciliations between both
- Prepare monthly full-year detailed expense forecasts, entry rates, and variance analyses
- Synthesize financial data creating valuable business insights to management
- Plan and run the external audit process. Efficiently complete the audit on schedule
- Become the subject matter expert for all aspects of the companies you work on
- Understand business processes, analyze for problems including control risks, recommend improvements
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of foreign currency accounting and reporting
- Advanced Excel skills are required and will be evaluated as part of the interview process
- Critical thinker, self-motivated, takes initiative with minimal direction
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to handle several projects simultaneously
- Excellent oral and written English skills required
- Multilingual candidates are strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Workday Financials is a plus
- CPA or the intention to pursue a CPA/ local equivalent is required
