Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Staff Accountant partners with operational departments to provide financial support, analyze transactions, and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives. 

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments. 

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities. 

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and intercompany accounts. 

  • Maintain general ledger integrity and investigate account discrepancies. 

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports. 

  • Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods. 

  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes. 

  • Review and process fixed asset additions, disposals, depreciation, and asset tracking. 

  • Assist with inventory accounting and related reconciliations as required. 

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation. 

  • Assist with tax filings, regulatory reporting, and compliance requirements. 

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls. 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within accounting functions. 

  • Collaborate with departmental managers to provide financial information and suppor 

  • Assists in supporting the UTAC culture and values (Integrity, Expertise, and Innovation) 

  • Performs other duties as assigned 

 

Education and Skill Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 

  • Minimum of 2–5 years of accounting experience preferred. 

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. 

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar. 

  • Microsoft Excel skills at an intermediate level. 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 

  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. 

  • Strong time management and multitasking skills. 

  • Consistently adhere to, and support all UTAC policies, procedures, and safety regulations 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise 

  • Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move about the facility 

  • Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned duties 

  • Requirements include, but are not limited to stand, walk, sit, twist, bend, lift, see, speak, hear 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
