Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant supports the monthly and annual close, including preparing journal entries, maintaining account reconciliations, and subsidiary ledgers. The role also prepares workpapers, supports annual audits, assists with multi-state tax compliance, and contributes to special projects. This opportunity is a great opportunity for someone who wants broad accounting experience with a growing company. 


  • Prepare monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, allocations, and reclasses
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations
  • Conduct variance and trend analysis to confirm accuracy of financial data
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules, including additions, disposals, and reconciliation to the general ledger
  • Support multi-state sales and use tax, property tax, and business license filings in coordination with the external tax team
  • Review vendor invoice coding for accuracy and proper GL classification
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the annual financial statement audit and respond to auditor requests
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the annual FAR overhead expense audit and respond to auditor requests
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting/analysis as needed, supporting the Accounting team and other departments
  • Identify opportunities to improve close processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase automation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 2–5 years of general ledger accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP, including accrual accounting and revenue recognition
  • Strong Excel skills, including XLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and working with large data sets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization, with the ability to meet close deadlines
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently
