Job Description:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable and general cashier duties.
- Understand cash reconciliation and updating the daily income journal
- Basic cash handling, including providing change as needed for employees
- Check Mail 4 times per week to intercept invoices, checks, and other mailed items
- Prepare, record, and process account payable, including communication with vendors of payment status and other inquiries
- Monitor status of open Purchase Orders to ensure timely payment of invoices
- Review Statements to ensure accounts are current
- Assist front desk with guest billing inquiries
- Including locating receipts and answering basic questions
- Process bi-weekly payroll for the entire hotel in a timely manner. Verify that all payroll data entries are correct and supported by documentation
- Post account receivable deposits/payments
- Assist Finance Team with the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts in proper format each month
- Assist Controller with month-end close
- Identify and remit chargeback documentation
- Maintain required records, reports and files in an organized manner
- Preform other related duties as directed or as situation dictates
- Interact daily with your property teams to understand their needs, research their inquiries, support their requests, and help them resolve issues
Job Requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High School diploma or equivalent required and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred. Ability to understand and utilize basic computer equipment and applications, to include word processing and spreadsheet applications.
