What You’ll Do  

As a Staff Accountant, you will independently perform accounting and tax functions across a variety of client engagements. You will apply your professional accounting expertise and judgment to prepare financial statements, analyze results, and determine appropriate accounting and tax treatments. 

In this role, you will manage assigned engagements with limited supervision, demonstrating your ability to stay organized and meet deadlines. You will also communicate directly with clients and collaborate with internal stakeholders, building strong relationships while delivering high-quality service. 

General Accounting & Financial Analysis 

  • Review bookkeeping and prepare financial statements. 
  • Support and manage portions of the month-end and year-end close processes. 
  • Analyze financial results, identify discrepancies, and recommend appropriate adjustments. 
  • Apply GAAP and firm standards to determine proper accounting treatment. 
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and supporting documentation. 

Tax Compliance & Advisory 

  • Prepare and review individual, partnership, and business tax returns. 
  • Identify tax issues and collaborate with senior leadership on appropriate treatment. 
  • Conduct tax research and apply findings to client situations. 
  • Provide support for tax planning initiatives during the off-season. 

Client Engagement & Communication 

  • Serve as a point of contact for assigned client engagements. 
  • Communicate financial results and explain accounting and tax positions clearly. 
  • Manage day-to-day execution while partnering with senior team members on more complex work. 
  • Work with a diverse client base, including oil & gas and agriculture industries. 

Professional Judgment & Autonomy 

  • Apply sound judgment in interpreting and applying accounting and tax principles. 
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines across engagements. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency. 

Business Development & Growth Opportunities 

  • Support business development efforts during the off-season through networking and community involvement. 
  • Build relationships within the local community with support from firm leadership. 
  • Contribute to long-term firm growth, with the opportunity to develop a book of business and progress toward a principal-level role. 

What You’ll Bring  

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 

Experience 

  • 5-6 years of relevant accounting or tax experience, including applicable internships. 

Technical Skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. 
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., CCH) preferred. 
  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA preferred.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles with the ability to apply professional judgment. 
  • Analytical mindset with solid problem-solving capabilities. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with clients.

  • Base salary of $100,000-$120,000 plus discretionary bonus (exact base salary amount will be dependent on experience)
